Things hot up with 67 Blankets

SANDTON – Visit William Nicol Drive today to grab a scarf for someone in need.

The initiative, 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day, is undertaking its second annual secret scarf mission in Johannesburg on 10 August.

Volunteers known as ‘knitwits’ will tie scarves to trees, poles and streetlights with a note saying: ‘I am not lost if you are cold and need me please take me, with love 67 Blankets’.

Founder Carolyn Steyn said, “We will certainly capture the imagination and hearts of many thousands of people who will be kept a little bit warmer in the name of our beloved Madiba, and with the cold front over the country it’s an opportune time to be spreading brightness, love and warmth.

“I saw the idea in the US and really loved it and thought we could spread love and warmth across South Africa.”

The scarf drive will start at 3pm sharp on William Nicol Drive, corner of Sandton Drive.
