CHARTWELL – Breakdown of election results

 

The local election results for Ward 96 are in, and the DA has taken over control of the district by a large lead.

The Independent Electorial Commission (IEC) released the results for the voting district at 5.59am on Thursday, 4 August. A total of 847 valid votes were cast at the station on 3 August.

The Democratic Alliance received 331 votes, or 78.04 percent of the total.

The ANC came in second, with 66 votes or 15.47 percent, a full 265 fewer votes than the DA. The Economic Freedom Fighters came in third with 24 votes, or 5.55 percent of the total. No other political party got more than two votes each.

The voting station was located on Cedar Road in Chartwell, at the Zewenfontein Hall and Nursery just outside Stein City, and residents from Chartwell, Dainfern, Cedar Lakes, Broadacres, Chartwell Estates, Chartwell North and Craigvon cast their votes there.

The results for the ward councillor for the area have not yet been released.
