To commemorate the annual Slipper Day taking place on 5 August, celebrities such as singer and actor, Thembi Seete; rapper Tweezy, also known as Tumelo Mathebula; House Band, Stones and Bones comprising KG Bones and CJ Stone; radio host, Sabby ‘DJ Sabby’ Mtshali; and rapper and producer, Priddy Ugly, also known as Ricardo Moloi were present to help raise awareness of the foundation’s aims.

“I relate to Reach For A Dream Foundation and Slipper Day’s aim to give young children their dreams as I was young once and had people I looked up to and wished to be, and having my dreams come true I know how important it is for children to be granted their dreams. We are mainly helping to plant a seed and helping it to grow to help aid these children’s dreams.”

Wimpy Slipper Day allows all South Africans to wear their slippers to work, school or anywhere they wish, in aid of helping children fight life-threatening illnesses, but can only if you purchase a R10 Slipper Day sticker from Wimpy to help support the cause.

“We are happy to be part of the Slipper Day campaign again this year. It is an initiative that is very close to our hearts and it is a privilege for us as a group to be able to contribute to making the dreams of these children come true. Stickers sold through Wimpy in the past years have resulted in more than R2 million raised for Reach For A Dream and the children they support, and we would like to continue to grow this amount every year,” said brand manager of Wimpy, Ayanda Peppeta.

Wimpy is also further supporting this initiative by rewarding all their customers with a free cup of regular famous Wimpy coffee if they arrive in-store wearing their slippers and sticker on 5 August.
