KYALAMI – Help investigation of a syndicate involved in stolen horse saddles and tack.

 

Private investigators, Intelligence Bureau is asking community members for assistance regarding an investigation of a syndicate involved in stolen horse saddles and tack.

“If you know of the whereabouts of illicit saddles and tack or have any information pertaining to the theft, you are urged to contact us with any information or tip-offs,” urged a forensics member of the Intelligence Bureau team who only goes by the name of Warren.

He said the value of the stolen horse tack ranges from R20 000 to R150 000.

Warren added that the crime syndicate has the equestrian community up in arms and the perpetrators are believed to have started a stolen horse tack syndicate operating in and around Centurion, Olievenhoutbosch, Kyalami, Mnandi and Pretoria.

He said they were looking for assistance with any information and leads. “Your information will be kept strictly confidential and your assistance will be much appreciated,” Warren said.

“The police and the equestrian community has reported that there has been a staggering increase in the number of reported horse tack thefts.”

Head of communications for the Douglasdale Police Station, Warrant Officer Balan Muthan said only three cases had been reported to them last year from the Chartwell area.
