Vote to give credit to nominated #TopCop

The Top Cop Awards is an exciting initiative which gives community members an opportunity to nominate and vote for the Metro police officers and South African Police Service officers from Douglasdale Police Station who they believe have excelled in the line of duty.

According to Happy Xaba, head of support at the station, the Best Support nominee, Shadrack Selona, is reliable and always available when asked to perform any task given. Xaba added that even though Selona is no longer a fleet manager, he still fully assists in that field and is always willing to help.

He added that during May, Selona was alone in the supply chain management office and managed to perform all the functions without complaining.

He said that Selona came in two Saturdays to assist the contractors with fixing electricity problems and the generator at the station. “He is always on duty and has a clean disciplinary record. Serving others is of importance to Selona,” Xaba said.

When asked about his nomination, Selona said, “I feel appreciated that my hard work is being recognised and that all is not in vain.

“The people I work with here at the station are like family to me and even though I sometimes feel like they overwork me, I am glad that they know I am always here to help.

“Community members should know that they can rely on us to help them in whatever they need, and their votes will help, as it will uplift and motivate me to see the acknowledgment of all my efforts.”
