Pedestrian killed after being knocked down on N1

BRYANSTON - A pedestrian was killed on the N1 north by William Nicol Drive after he was knocked down by a car and hit a second time by another car.

ER24 paramedics and City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services responded to a fatal accident scene on the N1 north just before the William Nicol Drive offramp on the early morning of 25 June where a pedestrian had been knocked over by a car.

ER24 said it was believed the pedestrian had then been knocked over by a second vehicle.
“The pedestrian, believed to be in his 20s or 30s, was found lying on the fast lane. Upon assessment by paramedics it was found that he sustained multiple severe injuries. Sadly there was nothing that could be done for him. He was declared dead,” said ER24 paramedics.

The paramedics said the driver of the first vehicle sustained minor injuries but refused hospital treatment. “The exact cause of the incident is unknown. Authorities were on scene for further investigations.”
