Fourways Review announces nominees for Top Cop Awards

FOURWAYS - The Fourways Review, together with Auto & General and the Douglasdale Community Policing Forum launched the Top Cop Awards.

This is an exciting initiative that will allow the community an opportunity to nominate and vote for Johannesburg Metro Police Department officers and South African Police officers from Douglasdale Police Station who they believe have excelled in the line of duty.

The winner of the monthly Top Cop Award will win R2 500, and he or she could stand a chance to win R25 000 if selected as the year-end Top Cop courtesy of Fourways Review, Auto & General and the Douglasdale Community Policing Forum.

First runner-up for May, goes to Christopher Ndou, nominated in the Best Member Support category. Happy Xaba, head of support at the station applauded Ndou for his consistent good work and willingness to go the extra mile. Xaba said, “Ndou has been nothing but helpful and a pleasure to work with.”

He added that although Ndou was responsible for administration services, he had gone out of his way to assist in every way possible in and around the office. “During the renovation period in April, Ndou assisted with moving furniture and other heavy items from one office to another. He also availed himself to install shelves in one of the containers as the station had no groundsmen.”

Xaba said that Ndou had also made himself available as a driver to convey officers and personnel to various destinations, “Ndou did all this during and after office hours without asking for a rest day or extra pay.”

Warrant Officer Balan Muthan said, “The Top Cop Awards are a great way to uplift and motivate staff.”

To vote for Christopher, SMS ‘TOP COP Ndou’ to 33657 by 25 May.

SMSes charged at R1.50.
