House sold from under him

DIEPSLOOT - A Diepsloot man received the shock of his life when he was evicted from his home after his ex-girlfriend sold it without his consent.

What was supposed to be a normal day for Patrick Nkgayi of Ext 10 turned into a nightmare when the new owner of the house turned up armed with an eviction notice. The new owner had apparently bought the extended RDP house from Nkgayi’s former girlfriend, Dekeledi Snatla, who he broke up with 12 years ago. Snatla has now allegedly vanished without a trace, and efforts to contact her has drawn blanks.

The new owner claimed to have bought the house for R108 000.

“We jointly own that house, our names both appear on the title deed and there is no way she can sell the house without my consent,” said Nkgayi.

To his surprise, his name was allegedly removed from the ‘fraudulently acquired new title deed’ which was used to effect the sale of the house. Nkgayi said he has not yet opened any case with the police.

He and his two children slept in the car for two weeks before getting a counter eviction notice on 16 May against the new occupant.

“We are now back at home. I hired a lawyer to challenge my eviction notice and today the housing department gave me papers which my attorney will give the Sherriff of the High Court to evict this guy. He has apparently moved out but has left his clothes,” said Nkgayi.
