DA marches for jobs

DIEPSLOOT - DA's Herman Mashaba calls for job creation.

DA mayoral candidate, Herman Mashaba recently staged a job march in Ward 95 in protest of the high unemployment in Johannesburg.

With more than 500 people participating, the march was designed to raise awareness about the worsening job situation in the province.

Mashaba accused the City of Johannesburg of failing to create a conducive environment for businesses to flourish.

“I urge people to come out and vote for the DA to administer the affairs of the City of Johannesburg. This is the only way they can save themselves from poverty,” said Mashaba.

He also held door-to-door chats with residents of Malatjie in Lanseria where he listened to people’s frustrations over their squalid living conditions.

In addition, he toured the taxi ranks, market places and streets of the poverty-stricken township.

The aspiring City of Johannesburg mayor was accompanied by his party’s Gauteng leader, John Moodey; Ward 95 party candidate, Refilwe Mathebula; DA councillors, Chris Santana and Matome Mafokwane; and hundreds of DA supporters.
