Crawford pupils give to those in need

LONEHILL - Pupils perform a random act of kindness.

Crawford Pre-Primary Lonehill was approached by the Ntshuxeko Foundation a week before the school holidays to assist with collecting toys for Revelation Nursery School and Pre-school, situated in the Mahonisi Village in Malamulele, Limpopo.

The foundation’s plans for the Easter holidays were to have a holiday programme for children up to the age of six with the aim of entertaining and encouraging them to learn through play.

“Although we had less than one week to do the collection, it was still worth a try, and we were absolutely blown away with the support we had from the pupils and their parents,” said Roslyn Truelock, principal of the school.

The foundation conducted a three-day Easter holiday programme with the Revelation Nursery School and Pre-school. Besides the fun educational activities, the children enjoyed an Easter egg hunt which they had never experienced before, and they received educational books and toys for the school.

“Without the collection, we would not have had any toys and our holiday programme would not have been possible,” said Shalate Teffo, CEO of the foundation.

The Revelation school has been operating since 2004 and it was the first time they had received toys and books. The Easter holiday programme has really helped the school and the foundation has promised to support them on an ongoing basis, she said.
