Empowering domestic workers through free domestic training

PINESLOPES - How important is it for domestic workers to know the do's and don'ts of cleaning? Read up on domestic workers training at Hirsch's Fourways.

Domestic workers in Fourways were treated to a free domestic training class on how to clean household appliances and also received demonstrations on how to use these appliances.

The domestic classes were held on 19 April and were conducted by Hirsch’s Fourways, who host monthly domestic workshops with the aim to contribute to a society where women are empowered and provided with opportunities to grow and realise their full potential, regardless of what they do.

At the monthly workshops, a domestic of the month is announced, and this month’s title went to Annah Ramoshaba who won a R300 Hirsch’s voucher. She also went into the draw for a R5 000 Hirsch’s voucher which will be announced at the end of the year at the last domestic workshop.

Public relations officer of Hirsch’s Fourways, Nicolene Samigan said, “Emphasis was placed on how important it is to keep the home clean and there were demonstrations on how to use a dishwasher effectively, the safe and hygienic use of a washing machine and how to get rid of dreaded stains. Our bedroom boutique experts demonstrated the appropriate use of mattress protectors and spoke on the appropriate mattress care, while staff in the spares and service department demonstrated the various cleaning materials available at Hirsch’s.”

The workshop concluded with an issued certificate of completion to all the attendees after the course.
