Douglasdale police have warned medical practitioners in the area to be vigilant of a con artist going by the name of Dr Dingolo who targets medical practitioners with the aim of getting them to pay him money.
The modus operandi involves him first telling his victims that he was involved in a car accident and then asks them for cash.
Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, head of communication for the Douglasdale police explained that the suspect carried around a list of hospitals on which he is named as a medical practitioner at one of them. This he gives to his targets as a ‘back up’ to his claims.
Muthan confirmed that they had received one reported case in Fourways, as well as at Mediclinic Sandton and another in Pretoria.
He urged community members to contact the police if they were approached by the suspect.
