The pupils and staff at Brescia House School celebrated the school’s 50th birthday on 8 April with tons of cake and fun.

Along with some notable alumni and nuns of the Ursuline Sisters, the school celebrated the special day on the last day of the school’s term. The school held its official opening on 16 April 1966. It started with a compliment of 100 pupils and by the end of that year the school had grown to 190 pupils. Today there are 960.

Marketing manager for the school Helga Bishop said the anniversary was not only a celebration of the school’s longevity but also a tribute to the values and ethos surrounding sisterhood that has kept the school going for half a century.

The school invited former head girl of the class of 1976 Nadine Gebhard who gave a heart-warming speech to the current pupils, sharing her experiences and expressing her pride in the school’s growth.

Guests were treated to some wonderful entertainment by the school’s choir and marimba bands.

Bishop added, “We’ve had a lot of celebrations but today is specifically for the children to reinforce the important values of bonding.”

She hoped that many of the pupils, especially the newly admitted Grade 1 pupils could feel the sense of community that the school held so highly.
