Celebrating independence

CHARTWELL – Unity College pupil, Mavela Dlamini, will be off to Malaysia to study computer art at the end of March.

Michelle Kirk, Unity College advancement officer said, “We are so very proud of you Mavela.” Kirk added that Dlamini had developed useful academic and social skills over the years spent at Unity College.

The college is an independent special needs school which promotes the potential of pupils through the provision of high-quality education in order to equip each pupil with the knowledge and skills to become productive, integrated members of society.

“On the academic front, Mavela has developed excellent literacy, numeracy and work-related skills,” Kirk said.

“On the social front, Mavela joined us as a quiet and reserved learner but by the time he left Unity he had developed to a level where he conducts himself with dignity and gentle confidence.”

Besides art, Mavela is also a skilful soccer player and recently participated and excelled in the Ingwenyama Kings Cup in Swaziland. “These positive outcomes occur with the right support and people behind you,” Kirk said.
