Mugg & Bean raises R100 000

JOHANNEBSURG – Mugg & Bean has been supporting the Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer Foundation since September 2012 and recently handed over a cheque for R100 000 towards the cause.

Sad statistics reveal that every year, between 800 and 1 000 South African children are diagnosed with cancer. Even more disturbing is the fact that at least half of these children are not diagnosed in time.

By supporting Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer Foundation, Mugg & Bean wants to assist in raising awareness about early detection in the hopes of saving more lives.

The cheque was donated to the foundation on 9 March at the Mugg & Bean’s National Conference in Cape Town after the money was raised through Mugg & Bean’s nationwide cupcake campaign.

“We need to thank each and every one of our customers who came into our restaurants and purchased one of our cupcakes and to those who came through to the Wall of Generosity. Without you and your support raising this R100 000 would not have been possible,” said Lee-Ann Cullingworth, marketing manager of Mugg & Bean.

The campaign was also largely supported by the Mugg & Bean Wall of Generosity  that was built in Sandton City during November 2015. The Wall was the first activation of its kind and a magnificent feat in the South African restaurant industry.

The money that was raised will go towards making the lives of children suffering from cancer better, and the struggle that their families face a little easier. The funds will also pay for medical equipment, bills and the necessities that families need to help their little fighters fight.

Mugg & Bean will continue to support the Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer Foundation through freshly-baked cupcakes. “We are incredibly proud of the awareness we have been able to raise and have been humbled by the support received for this campaign. We can only hope to further this amount in the future,” concluded Cullingworth.
