Caxton’s excellence awarded

JOBURG - It was a glitzy and glamorous affair for Caxton employees as they gathered at Joburg Theatre for the annual Caxton Awards.

 

Themed #fantastical15, in reference of celebrating the staff successes of 2015, employees lived up to the theme as they all dressed up for this prestigious event.

The awards are held annually to celebrate the hard work done by Caxton Local Newspapers employees across all branches in different provinces.

Opening up proceedings on the night, Bruce Sturgeon, CEO of Caxton Local Newspapers, said the awards were to celebrate the hard work done by all staff members who made different contributions to the company. Awards categories ranged from switchboard operator of the year, telesales person of the year, best credit controller, newspaper of the year, journalist of the year and best regular column among others.

The Joburg North branch didn’t come home empty-handed with its staff bagging a few of these awards.

The branch walked away with a highly recommended award for the Best Regular Column which is written by Alex News‘ Sipho Siso. Another award went to graphic designer, Tristan Beyers who received the highly commended award for a large advert.

Rehana Osman of Midrand Reporter received a highly commended award for Switchboard Operator of the year. City Buzz was a finalist for a Newspaper under 20 pages. GetIt Joburg North also received a highly commended award and the magazine’s Caitlyn Coles was a finalist for Best GetIt journalist and colleague Genevieve Beyleveld won the category. Samantha Dube of the Joburg North West branch received a highly commended award for Best Telesales person.

The entertainment highlight of the evening was a performance by popular singer, Nathi Mankayi. The Afro-pop entertainer had everyone on their feet.

Norman Dawe, Joburg North branch manager said he was very proud of the awards his branch had won. He added that he looked forward to working with the team for another year and wished them all the best.
