One killed in truck accident near Lanseria

LANSERIA - One person was killed and two others injured when a tipper truck overturned on the N14 near a petrol station in Lanseria on the afternoon of 9 March.

According to ER24, three construction workers were sitting at the back of the truck at the time of the accident and they sustained minor injuries.

Paramedics arrived on scene to find the truck lying on its roof with the cabin crushed.

Three people were inside the cabin at the time of the accident and one of them sustained fatal injuries.

Two others were trapped between the metal of the cabin and had to be freed with rescue tools before they could be treated.

The construction workers who had been at the back of the truck when it overturned were found near the truck and were treated for minor injuries.

The ER24 medical helicopter was called to the scene however once the two patients were freed from the cabin they were able to be transferred to hospital by road.

The exact cause of the incident is not yet known but it is believed that the truck had been transporting members of the construction team busy with road works on the N14.

Local authorities were on scene to investigate the incident.
