EduWeek, improving the quality of education in South Africa

JOBURG - An informative media briefing was held at the Michelangelo Hotel in Sandton on 9 March to celebrate the 10th anniversary of EduWeek.

EduWeek is an influential education exhibition which will be held from 29 to 30 June at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand. EduWeek, along with partners SABC education and Intel, provides a platform for various topics surrounding education to be discussed including early childhood development, teacher training, inclusive education and digital technology.

Now in its 10th year, a new partnership has been established with the Department of Basic Education which has signed an agreement to support EduWeek for the next five years.

Event director Tanya Jackman said, “EduWeek prides itself on delivering an annual event which directly responds to the needs and expectations of the industry. Our long-term partnership with the Department of Basic Education will continue to ensure that EduWeek remains at the forefront of advancing educational knowledge in Africa and, in turn, contributes towards improving the quality of life for all our educators and learners.”

Country manager of Intel, Videsha Proothveerajh said, “EduWeek brings the right people together to showcase and discuss innovation in education. For three years, this has been the ideal platform for Intel to engage with thought leaders in the education space.”

Head of communication at the Department of Basic Education Elijah Mhlanga said, “The department values partnerships and we believe that this platform will also contribute to the improvement in the quality of education in South Africa.

“Various stakeholders share best practices and innovations that can be used to improve quality learning and teaching.”
