Appreciating Joburg’s service delivery

JOBURG - The City of Johannesburg’s I Know My Joburg campaign continues to engage with residents of the city, especially the youth, on what service delivery the City offers the community.

The campaign, which kicked off on 2 March and runs for one more week, challenges young people of Johannesburg to take pictures of whatever they see as service delivery in their respective communities and explain how it impacts their everyday life by using the hashtag #IKnowMyJoburg.

Young people have been encouraged to follow the City’s social media accounts for the campaign and individuals who are actively engaging with the campaign stand a chance to win double tickets to the Nicki Minaj concert in Johannesburg, VIP style – and if that isn’t enough of an incentive, we don’t know what is!

To get young people participating in the campaign, the City of Johannesburg is advertising the campaign on radio stations including YFM, UJ FM and VoW and runs the competition on the City’s social media accounts.

Through this campaign, the City hopes to create awareness about the good work done by the service delivery employees and get young people to get involved in other great initiatives such as Vulindlel’ eJozi, Jozi@Work and digital ambassadors – just to name a few.

Involving the youth and providing them with knowledge about what service delivery entails also exposes future leaders to available career opportunities in the local government sector.

At the end of the campaign, the City will gather all the pictures submitted and choose 13 winners who have captured the best pictures – with equally inspiring captions – to win those double tickets to see Nicki Minaj live in Joburg.
