Planning, preparation and community unity for Douglasdale Community Policing Forum

FOURWAYS – The Douglasdale Community Policing Forum (CPF) presented its Community Safety Plan at an annual planning meeting at the Indaba Hotel.

Present at the meeting were commanders and staff from Douglasdale police, Metro police, Gautrans police, Douglasdale CPF committees 1, 2, 3, and 4, and the Douglasdale CPF Exco. Also present were representatives from the emergency services including ER 24, SLA and Fourways Life Hospital, and representatives from various security companies including Thompsons Security, 24/7, ADT and SOS.

Chairperson of the Douglasdale CPF, Jean Berdou, explained that the area safety plan had been firmed up, the area disaster management plan addressed and planning for various ‘what if’ scenarios completed.

Berdou said, “The message for criminals is loud and clear, enter our area at your peril.”

He urged members of the community to be far more vigilant for their own safety and that of your neighbours and friends.

Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for the Douglasdale Police Station added that the plan was to discourage the occurrence of contact crime through the provision of a pro-active and responsive policing service.

Douglasdale Police Station commander Brigadier Lettie Hugo said this would be done through various neighbourhood watches and by working alongside various entities.
