Ward councillor of the area, Annette Deppe, expressed disappointment over the omission by a company contracted by Johannesburg City Council to collect the rubbish bins.
“Rubbish bins have not been collected for a month and this is not a good way of entering the new year,” said Deppe.
Deppe said they have not yet received any explanation from the company contracted to clean the area.
Residents of the affected areas wrote letters of inquiry to the councillor who in turn took the complaints to the doorstep of Refuse Collection Company.
Efforts to get a comment from Pikitup drew blanks, as individuals responsible for dealing with the media are reportedly still on holiday.
