Bryanston High pupil shines with 8 distinctions

BRYANSTON – With eight distinctions under his belt, Cameron Matthews of Bryanston High School impressed with his stellar matric results.

The class of 2015 matric pupil achieved distinctions in English, Afrikaans, mathematics, business studies, physical science, life sciences, geography and life orientation, earning the title of top achiever at the school.

Matthews explained that he had not expected such good results, especially given that the past year and exams were tough. “I expected five distinctions because it was such a hard year, with the amount of work we had and various other commitments,” he said.

“I was nervous about physical science, and mathematics particularly, but, in the end, I did extremely well in both; what were the odds of that?”

Asked about future plans, Matthews explained that he would continue his studies at the University of Cape Town where he would be studying towards a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering, something he said he was quite looking forward to.

He also reflected on his time at the school, saying he would miss the spirit of Bryanston High and the people he came to know.

“After five years at the school, I will definitely miss the spirit and vibe of the school, and I wish could have another month to say goodbye to everyone,” he said.

Matthews concluded by congratulating the class of 2015 for their performance and shared words of encouragement for the 2016 matric class.

“Listen in class and always ensure that you prepare in advance, it definitely worked for me during my final year,” he said.
