Five distinctions for Diepsloot resident and 100 percent pass rate for Blue Hills College

MIDRAND - Blue Hills College is proud of the 100 percent pass rate and 110 distinctions achieved by its matric class.

The school’s top achiever, Nape Tshepo Faith Segooa from Diepsloot, obtained five distinctions in geography, life sciences, physical science, religious studies and life orientation. She also obtained 79 percent for English, 70 percent for Afrikaans and 73 percent for maths.

Speaking to Midrand Reporter, the former head girl said she is excited to have the chance to study chemical engineering at Wits University. She added, “I gave my all and I am happy with the results. I can’t wait for Wits, I want to thank my family and teachers for the support they gave me.”

Her mother, Bronwen Segooa, said although her daughter was at first disappointed that she did not get distinctions in maths and English, she still made the family proud. She explained, “Ever since her early stages in primary school, she showed signs that she would be a great pupil who would get good grades. We are so happy for her.”

Blue Hills College principal, Jabulani Donga said, “We got 81 bachelors, 12 diplomas and no certificates, we are proud of our pupils and wish them well as they further their studies.”

Donga attributed the Class of 2015’s success, and previous matrics, to extra lessons diligently given at the school. “We planned in advance to eliminate certificates by identifying possible failures and getting those pupils extra classes as an intervention.”
