HEATWAVE WARNING: Scorching temperatures to hit Gauteng

JOBURG - South Africa is in for yet another heatwave, with this one set to reach record temperatures of over 40 degrees Celsius in some parts of the country.

According to forecasts by the South African Weather Service the temperature in Gauteng will reach 38 degrees Celsius on 5 January while on 7 January the maximum temperature will climb to a sweltering 42 degrees Celsius.

Residents can expect relief after 8 January with maximum temperatures going down to 31 degrees Celsius with a chance of rain.

Since the announcement of the impending heatwave, the South African Weather Service has advised people to stay indoors as far as possible and to drink lots of fluids to avoid dehydration.
