Diepsloot PR councillor reflects on 2015

DIEPSLOOT - The year will soon be behind us and Fourways Review spoke to Democratic Alliance public relations councillor in Diepsloot, Refilwe Mathebula and this is her Christmas message:

“I would like to thank your lovely readers, especially those who assisted with donations when I asked for help – thank you for helping the community of Diepsloot, may God bless you and give you strength to do more next year.

“Have a joyful and restful Christmas, we work very hard throughout the year and we all deserve quality family time. For those who are travelling, please ask a neighbour, friend or relative to look after your home because this is a season where criminals are striking like lightning.

“Please travel safely and if you are driving take it easy on the road, rather be safe than sorry. Don’t overspend because 2016 is still another year and we don’t want to see ourselves in too much debt. Let’s be responsible and spend wisely.”

She added that there were many fire-related incidents in her constituency which included Msawawa and Kya Sands. “I still feel sorry for those who lost their belongings through fire and I know some of them are still to recover from that.

“It’s absurd to see that whenever the DA raises a serious issue regarding the poor performance of the fire department, we are accused of political grandstanding in order to make headlines in the media. There is a lot that needs to be done at Diepsloot Police Station which is still not yet officially open to the community.

“There is no hospital or 24/7 health centre in Diepsloot. We only have two clinics that operate from 8am to 4pm which is another nightmare.”
