“We would like to thank our community for the co-operation given to us, especially in light of cases of mob justice which were reduced to almost zero levels in recent times. This shows Diepsloot is maturing as a community. However, we are concerned as it appears as if the violence is now being perpetrated by individuals on other individuals, resulting in more cases of domestic violence happening behind closed doors.
“We have started with visits to local clinics, taxi ranks, taverns and streets, to educate the people that violence breeds violence. It can never be a solution.”
Referring to the new Diepsloot Police Station, Mavimbela said, “We are still providing the community with all the services that they expect from the police. If anything has changed it is the fact that one sees less of our colleagues in comparison to when we worked in a much more compact building or space.”
