Black smoke from burning compost heap visible on the Fourways skyline
FOURWAYS - A compost heap in the Lanseria area caught alight on the late afternoon of 15 November and a large black cloud of smoke drifted from the area, over Fourways, Lonehill, Glenferness to Kyalami and Blue Hills.
Twitter was abuzz on the evening of 15 November with Fourways residents wondering where the large black cloud of smoke was coming from.
Sabine Anderson said it was a compost heap at an organic fertilizer manufacturer in the Lanseria area. She tweeted photos of the fire at around 5pm on 15 November. She feared that the fire was spreading to the warehouse.

@DpDaniella it seemed as though a compost heap caught alight and quickly spread to the warehouse! I can still see a lot of smoke!!

@DpDaniella if you drive down Cedar ave towards Lanseria turn left at the end/T junction pass croc city and Culterra is on the right.

Fourways Review has not yet been able to establish contact with the manufacturer but will up date as more information comes to light. The extent of the damage is also not known at this time.
