Police gear up for festive season

FOURWAYS – Three people were arrested for the possession of dagga during a crime prevention operation that took place on the corner of Witkoppen and Cedar roads on 27 and 28 October.

This in a joint operation with Douglasdale police, local security companies and Metro police. The operation also saw five shebeen owners being charged and their shebeens closed down.

Warrant officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for Douglasdale Police Station said the operation was part of their plan to minimise crime and keep motorists safe during the holiday season.

He said the operation would continue until the end of the festive season and would be held weekly throughout the area.
