Fourways High is drug free

FOURWAYS – Douglasdale police conducted a drug raid at Fourways High School in a bid to keep pupils safe from illegal substances.

Balan Muthan, head of communications of Douglasdale Police Station, explained that the school had a working relationship with the police and drug raids were scheduled sporadically.

“The main aim is not to catch pupils out, but rather to keep them safe and away from illegal substances while they are in our care,” Muthan said.

Sergeant Nicholus Mokwena of the social crime prevention unit warned pupils that illegal drug use would land them behind bars. “If you are caught with illegal substances you will be arrested,” he said.

Although no drugs were found at the school, Mokwena encouraged pupils to be open about their problems and urged them to confide in teachers or the police for assistance. Mokwena added that it was vital that parents, teachers and police worked together to keep pupils safe.
