Joining hands to clean up.

MAGALIESSIG - The Douglasdale Community Policing Forum Sector 4 team discovered close to 20 makeshift houses made out of plastic and other materials on a piece of land on the corner of Witkoppen Road and William Nicol Drive during a clean-up operation.

The forum’s chairperson, David Foley, said many of the people living there had no identification documents. He handed the matter to Douglasdale Police Station for further action.

“Sector 4 manager, Warrant Officer Hein van Heerden, has spoken to the owners of the land, but found that the land had been sold to new owners, and pressure will be put on the new owners to clean-up as an office park will be built on the land according to report backs,” Foley said.

He said the forum had engaged Pikitup in their mission to keep Sector 4 clean, and had requested Metro police to maintain the bylaws in the area.

More clean-ups will be conducted by the forum in the near future.
