Spruit Day a success

KYALAMI – The Greater Kyalami Conservancy (Gekco), residents' associations and the City of Joburg joined forces on Spruit Day to clean up parts of the Jukskei River on Main Road just after Lonehill.

Home to a multitude of wildlife and indigenous trees, residents all joined forces to protect the beautiful area.

Cameron McGregor, project manager for the Klein Jukskei Green Belt Initiative, explained that they were working closely with residents’ associations, body corporate’s, schools and residents to transform a neglected section of the Klein Jukskei into a green gem in the community.

McGregor, added that the initiative aimed to develop a path along the Jukskei River that would allow joggers, walkers, cyclists and families to enjoy the river.

Chairperson of Gekco, Kristin Kallesen commended the community for their participation.
