Provincial commissioner assures CPFs will function normally

JOBURG - Recently, the Gauteng Provincial Police Commissioner’s office suspended the implementation of the new extended powers of oversight functions for all Community Policing Forums (CPFs) in Gauteng on 30 June.

Andy Mashaile, chairperson of the Gauteng Community Policing Board, stated that Provincial Police Commissioner Lesetja Mothiba had clarified that his office was not able to suspend the oversight functions of all of the CPFs in Gauteng over the new extended powers that were issued to them in a meeting on 20 July.

According to Mashaile, Mothiba said that the oversight functions of the CPFs will continue as per normal.

“The issue was a misunderstanding and is being resolved,” Mashaile said.
