Domestic Watch at La Fiorentina

SUN VALLEY - A MAD Domestic Watch meeting is set to take place at the La Fiorentina restaurant in Sun Valley on 23 July.

Penny Steyn, founder of the MAD (Making A Difference) initiative, believes that it all comes down to motivating domestic staff to believe in their self-worth – because safety against crime starts with the self.

Steyn began the initiative when she realised that domestic workers were often blamed for unwittingly letting criminals into their homes or onto the properties of their employers.

Domestic Watch holds regular meetings and no two meetings are ever the same. A guest speaker is expected but not confirmed on 23 July who will present the topic: What to teach children without creating fear. Failing this, the topic Forensic Protection – what to do during and after a crime, will be presented.
