Taxi driver allegedly shot outside Diepsloot taxi rank

DIEPSLOOT - A taxi driver was allegedly shot and assaulted outside the Diepsloot taxi rank on 14 July. 

According to a passenger, who did not want to be named.

The taxi she was in was blocked by a group of taxi operators as it was leaving Diepsloot heading towards Midrand.

Taxi drivers are reported to be on strike.

The driver of the taxi the eyewitness was in was allegedly shot once and beaten with a knobkerrie.

Passengers ran out the taxi, and had to walk as there are currently no taxis operating in Diepsloot.

On 13 July there was a drive-by incident in Woodmead in which a taxi driver tried to shoot another driver through his front windshield.

There is reportedly a large police presence on the R55 currently to monitor taxis.
