Waterfall City’s streets to be renamed

WATERFALL CITY - Three street names, which are perceived as not promoting a sense of community in the multi-billion Waterfalls City, will soon be renamed.

Joburg City issued a public notice this week inviting interested parties to submit their comments regarding the name changes. The notice stated that Jukskei View Drive will be changed to Simlak Drive, a portion of Maxwell Drive will be changed to Waterfall Drive, and Pretorius Road will become Creek road.

“Pretorius Road and Lone Creek Crescent are connected, and to avoid confusion on this main arterial, it is proposed that only one name be displayed, namely Lone Creek Road. The change will only affect about 60 metres of the northern side of Allandale Road,” reads part of the council notice.

The change from Maxwell Drive to Waterfall Drive is meant to maximise the marketing potential and investment attractiveness of the area. The name Simlak Drive was proposed by the Mia family and is meant to enhance the character of the area and its community.

A public meeting will be held on 2 July to discuss the changes at Dippenaar Hall, St Peters College, College Lane off Maxwell Drive, Sunninghill at 6pm.

Details: Affected parties are invited to submit their comments to: pierren@joburg.org or conrad@tiniebez.co.za
