22 hours of darkness as Eskom battles to replace transformer

DOUGLASDALE - SCORES of families residing in Heron Close in Douglasdale along Kingfisher Drive spent 22 hours in darkness without electricity.

This is however not due to load shedding, but delays by Eskom technicians to replace a faulty transformer.

“We had to call Eskom 25 times in order to have the problem fixed,” said a resident who declined to be identified.

She added that the transformer was eventually fixed on 30 June at 10am after spending a night in darkness.

Fourways Review’s efforts to get an explanation from Joburg City Power were not successful. The office and mobile numbers of spokesperson Sydney Mphahlele were not answered when this paper called for a response. The Eskom’s 086 003 7566 customer centre phone number kept on spewing recorded messages when Fourways Review called.
