Cook off comes to a screen near you

MIDRAND - The Little Big Cook Off, South Africa's favourite family cook off show, is back once again on South African TVs with its first episode having aired on 28 June.

Season one of the show was such a success that it won Best Game Show category in the 2015 South African Film and Television Awards held at Gallagher Estates in Midrand.

Throughout the entire season, audiences will be introduced to 12 food-loving families. In each first round episode, the teams get to make their own special family recipe, as well as participate in a creative baking challenge. In this challenge, each team competes at making a basic baking recipe with their own additions and creativity to set them apart. At the end of each episode, two teams go through to the next round.

However, the lowest scoring family is not eliminated from the show just yet. They return to try their luck in a Wild Card episode. In the first episode of this season, the first three teams to make an appearance will be Purple Pumpkin, Team Joy and Totally Spiced.

All three teams are seemingly ecstatic to be part of the show. Purple Pumpkin, which consists of Zilda (42) and Elif Acar (10) from Waverley in Johannesburg, is a mother and daughter duo that will bring a special Greek flare to cooking.

Speaking on behalf of herself and her mother, Elif said, “It doesn’t matter if we win or lose, as long as we have fun.”

The show will be aired on SABC 3 at 5.30pm.
