Soccer tournament to honour school veteran

MARLBORO GARDENS - MARLBORO Gardens Combined School hosted a soccer tournament in honour of their school governing body chairperson, Liaquad Ebrahim.

Principal Avril van Zyl said they decided to combine two of Ebrahim’s loves, which are soccer and the school, to thank him for his years of service.

Muzzammil Shaik, the soccer co-ordinator said they invited Bishop Bavin School, Wendywood High School and Sandtonview School U19 soccer players for a series of soccer matches. The day was fun-filled where pupils came to watch the soccer, enjoy music and food, and socialise with their peers.

Van Zyl said Ebrahim had been on the governing body for about 17 years and continued to do the best for the school.

“He has played a major part in the school governing body,” he added.

“This is a celebration of his dedication to the school.”
