Stage 1 load shedding begins again

JOBURG – Eskom customers can expect more woes as Eskom implemented Stage 1 load shedding from 10am this morning.

Eskom revealed on their twitter handle, Eskom Media Desk @Eskom_MediaDesk, that this is likely to continue until 10pm this evening. Prior to this, the company’s other twitter handle Eskom Hld SOC Ltd @Eskom_SA had warned, “The load shedding prognosis for today is very high.”

Last night, Eskom stopped Stage 2 load shedding at 9pm and Eskom reminded its customers that restoration of power takes longer in some areas.

Eskom called on all customers to reduce the load on the electricity grid by urgently switching off geysers, air conditioners, pool pumps and all non-essential appliances throughout the day, which will reduce electricity demand. Commercial customers, particularly shopping centres and office blocks, can also make a big difference by switching off non-essential lights and not leaving office equipment such as photocopiers and computers in standby mode after hours. Eskom will provide regular updates on the status of the power system throughout the day.

Eskom customers are advised to check the load shedding schedules which are available on the Eskom website, loadshedding.eskom.co.za. Municipal customers are urged to contact their local authorities.
