Witness comes forward in da Costa murder case

FOURWAYS – A WITNESS to the murder of Fourways businesswoman, Celia da Costa, has come forward and said that she felt helpless as she watched Da Costa being shot on the M1 highway on 2 May.

According to news agency Eye Witness News, the female witness, who cannot be named for fear of her safety, stated that she feels guilty for not being able to help Da Costa.

“I’m just really upset,” said the witness.

“I feel we could have helped her. But then, also, we were thinking about our lives as well. She’s somebody’s sister, she’s somebody’s wife.”

Da Costa is part owner of the Rodizio Brazillian Restaurant franchise, and had branches at the Leaping Frog Shopping Centre on William Nicol Drive and one in Bedfordview.

Da Costa was travelling on the M1 highway toward Sandton from the Lusito Land Festival when she was cornered by two vehicles, a Mercedes and a VW Polo. The suspects then forced her out of her car and shot her.
