Infographic: Wired dogs in bakkie

JOBURG - The North Eastern Tribune put together an infographic displaying how the story about the dogs spotted wired to a bakkie developed , along with a timeline of events related to the article.

1. Two dogs are seen harnessed with wire to a white Toyota Bakkie heading on William Nicol towards the Joburg CBD on 5 May. Johannesburg resident Nico Pieterse bravely pursues the bakkie from William Nicol all the way into the Joburg CBD.
2. Social media erupts as photos of the dogs being transported go viral on the evening of 5 May.

3. The SPCA, along with IRS Forensic Investigations, arrive at the house where the bakkie is registered on the morning of 6 May. It emerges that the owner of the Bakkie leased it out to a third party who was the one transporting the dogs on 6 May.

4. The North Eastern Tribune speaks to the owner of the dogs who ordered the transportation of them by the person who hired the bakkie. The owner alleges that he gave the dogs away as they were fighting with other dogs at his residence on 6 May.

5. SPCA confirms that the driver of the bakkie has fled the country on 6 May. SPCA releases statement that their sister organisation across the border has made progress in locating the driver on 6 May.
