Breakfast with earth’s custodians

BRYANSTON - A VERY special breakfast was held at the Hackle Brooke Business Centre on 6 May when Jane Mackenzie and Dan Schreiber launched the 2015 Earthimagineers South African tour.

The breakfast gave members from varying industries with a passion for the environment to meet Dan Schreiber, the founder of Starseed Gardens, as well as the Bryanston-based sustainability advocate Jane Mackenzie.

Mackenzie, who appeared in the Sandton Chronicle for her innovative solar powered home in Bryanston which currently runs off the national grid, said the tour is a proactive way to spread their message to embrace environmental sustainability.

Mackenzie said, “We will be inspiring people to embrace the connection between the earth, the animals and themselves.”

She added that the Earthimagineers tour is a way to actively change communities’ mind sets about environmental sustainability and in turn create custodians of the earth.

The tour will run from 8 May until 7 June, and is travelling from Johannesburg and ending in Knysna with seminars led by Mackenzie and Schreiber.

Schreiber, who is the founder of the Starseed Gardens in Australia, and an influential environmentalist and imaginer, said that the tour will show local communities that there are solutions for the various problems which are in harmony with the earth and other people.

He added that South Africa is in a very interesting position in that it can act as an example for other African countries to embrace sustainable living.

The tour will take place in Johannesburg from 15 to 17 May.
