Gun lost after being left in Rivonia public toilet

RIVONIA - Whether one finds it humorous or disconcerting, a flyer seen in Rivonia advertising a R5 000 reward for a lost firearm has grabbed the attention of residents.

The flyer states that there is a R5 000 reward for a 9mm Browning pistol which was lost in a public toilet in Rivonia.

Ward 106 councillor Stephen Moore said that the resident should report the lost firearm to the police.

He added, “It worries me greatly that people are losing fireams. It’s very concerning, as it depends on who finds it, because the best case scenario would be that a vagrant finds it and might want R5 000 rather than use the weapon.”

As of yet the former gun owner has not given a statement regarding the flyer.

Provincial police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini said that the individual who finds the weapon must hand it over to the police immediately, adding that if they are found in possession of the weapon they could be charged with possession of an illegal firearm.
