According to Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for the Douglasdale police, the female resident was on her way home from a local shopping centre at around 3pm.
Upon entering her complex in Magaliessig, a white Hyundai i20 drove up behind her. Three suspects alighted from the vehicle; all were armed and were wearing gloves.
The resident hooted and her husband came out of the house. Both residents were robbed of jewellery that they had on their person, this included wedding two rings and a watch. No injuries were reported.
Muthan said the case is under investigation and has been linked to a similar robbery case that happened in March in which a 63-year-old victim was robbed in Fourways.
