Building bridges between business and community

LONEHILL - A community upliftment initiative is urging business owners to think not what their community can do for them, but what they can do for their community.

Co-founder of ThinkCommunity, Trevor Nel, explained that in a recent ThinkCommunity think tank, questions were raised about what businesses can do for their communities in order to encourage resident consumers to spend money at their tills. Nel explained that the ThinkCommunity initiative initiates think tanks and focus and work groups to leverage the intellectual property and resources of all willing community stakeholders. The initiative also looks for passionate business and community leaders to apply their minds for the benefit of all.

ThinkCommunity now invites local businesses and community leaders to a short and sharp presentation on 23 April from 9am to 11am at Oasis Lonehill Lodge in Beverley.

“Business owners are urged to hand over their shops to their capable assistants for just two mid-morning hours and explore how they can connect their businesses to the massive R179-million per month consumer spend happening in their local community,” Nel said.

Four topics have been compiled to address the major question posed by the presentation, ‘How to connect your business to 6 000 local consumers in our community?’

The first presentation will be conducted by Leeann Naidoo and will be a snapshot into what local business owners will need to consider for success in the future.

The second part of the presentation will focus on how business owners can enhance their business values by up to 70 percent. The third section of the presentation will focus on the Ourhood: Neighbour-to-Neighbour communication platform.

The final part of the presentation will introduce business owners to the Lonehill Village Fair which will take place on 16 May and will discuss the layout of sites and allow some time for business owners to connect with local consumers.

The event will take place on 23 April at Oasis Lonehill, located at 31 Mulbarton Road, Beverley AH.

Entrance is R100 per person.
