According to the Randburg Sun, a local security company was on patrol in the Douglasdale area about midday on 22 March when they spotted a suspicious looking white Nissan bakkie parked in an open area. Security guards saw two men alight from the bakkie. One man had a spade in his hand. On noticing the security vehicle, the man with the spade fled on foot while the other suspect got into the vehicle and drove off. The security guards gave chase and alerted the police.
According to Douglasdale police, the suspect who was driving the bakkie was stopped in Kya Sands and arrested by police. It was then that the body of a woman in her forties was found in the back of the vehicle.
