City Lodge accommodates culinary greats
BRYANSTON - The City Lodge Hotel Group has recently committed to taking care of the accommodation needs of the South African National Culinary Team.
The City Lodge head office is located in Bryanston and there are two City Lodge hotels in Fourways, one in Pineslopes and another in Waterfall City.
The team is currently preparing for the IKA Culinary Olympics, which will take place in Erfurt, Germany next year.
The competition will see national teams from across the globe compete in categories such as Hot Kitchen, Cold Table and Pastry.
The sponsorship from City Lodge means that the eight-member team, three from Joburg and five from Cape Town, will be able to get together for practices as they build up to the big event.
“Travel is necessary to ensure the team can practice together and then go back to their restaurants and perfect their dishes by including them on their own menus,” said Heinz Brunner, manager of the culinary team.
The team will practice at different venues every two months.
“It is a privilege for us to assist them as they prepare to represent our country in the world’s ultimate culinary challenge,” said Peter Schoeman, divisional director of sales and marketing for the City Lodge Hotel Group.
