CHINESE NEW YEAR – FIRST CHINATOWN

Joburg’s First Chinatown on Commissioner Street celebrates Chinese New Year on the first weekend of the New Year with fireworks, street food stalls and traditional entertainment. The fun starts at 3pm in the area surrounding Joburg’s earliest Chinese community. And with the recent opening of market space The Sheds@1 Fox nearby, there is more space than ever for visitors coming to enjoy the dancing Chinese dragons and lions, kung fu displays, marching bands, and of course, the grand pyrotechnic display at 9pm.
