UPDATE: Missing paramedic committed suicide

DOUGLASDALE - DOUGLASDALE - The death of an ER24 staff member who went missing for four days has been ruled a suicide.

Corrie Craukamp (51) was last seen leaving his home in Bloubosrand on the morning of 16 February.

However, Craukamp never showed up for work at the ER24 head office in Homestead Avenue, Randburg.

On 19 February he was found dead in Maroeladal.

ER24 extended their heartfelt condolences to Craukamp’s family and friends, and said the ER24 Trauma Counselling Unit was making its services available to Craukamp’s family.

On 20 February Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for the Douglasdale police confirmed that Craukamp’s death had been ruled a suicide.

After being missing for almost four days ER24’s paramedic Corrie Craukamp was found dead on 19 February.

It was reported that Craukamp was last seen leaving his residence in Bloubosrand on the morning of 16 February and a search for him was conducted.

According to ER24’s communications officer, Werner Vermaak, details surrounding Craukamp’s death were still under investigation. The location of where Craukamp’s body was found was not revealed as yet.

He said, “We offer our sincere condolences to our colleagues, Corrie’s family and friends. ER24 would also wish to thank everyone that assisted in the search for Corrie, members of the public that shared the missing person’s report, the media that made time and space in their bulletins to publish the report as well as off duty search and rescue personnel that dedicated their time.”

Vermaak added that Craukamp’s family and friends were receiving trauma counselling.
