New year with new goals

KYALAMI - Ward 93 councillor Annette Deppe hosted a Joburg 10 plus meeting in Kyalami on 20 January.

The meeting was organised by council official Jeanney Portia Makape to address key problems and issues within the ward.

Ward 93 consists of Sunninghill, parts of Kyalami, Kyalami Glen, Waterfall City, Leeuwkop Prison, Barbeque Downs, Paulshof and Kyalami Office Park’s wetlands.

Officials from all service delivery providers and some residents’ associations attended the meeting. Deppe said the 10 Plus meetings were held to develop relationships and connections within the service industry.

The agenda saw crucial matters being discussed, namely road and pothole maintenance in the Sunninghill and Barbeque Downs areas.

In addition, Deppe discussed the vagrants living in the Plooysville area found along the R55 and discussed legal action and eviction, as well as safety and crime problems within the area.

Deppe brought up issues regarding the need for traffic control measures, such as speed bumps on Stonehaven Road in Paulshof. “The residents need to sign a petition and come to an agreement if speed signs or speed bumps are wanted on this road,” she said. “The new year brings new possibility and we need everyone to work together in order to eradicate specific service delivery issues in our area.”

Deppe stressed that in order to tackle problems in the area and improve the area, officials need to communicate and discuss the ways forward on a neutral platform and find ways to prevent difficulties from reoccurring.
